I'm Still Alive!

Hey Everyone! I'm alive and much better! It was an awful few weeks but thank goodness the worst is over! Brianna and I flew in to Iowa a week ago but I wanted to post a few photos from the last week in Esteli.

Our last week was our C O's visit - my first time out of bed in weeks was to the pioneer meeting ... after an hour I was exhausted and had to go home and back to bed....pathetic.

Dengue Fever....Again

yep.... that's right. I got the wretched dengue fever again. 2 times. who gets it
TWICE?
I'm in the last stages... its been a week. i ve been to the doctor 3 times which means
3 blood tests. right now i have the horrible dengue rash. so my whole body is red and itchy.
I'm sick of this bed and room and of being sick.
at least the pain and fever are gone. i had to be in the dark in my room for 4 days with no light because my eyes were so sensitive to light.
but at least this time we have had running water and electricity. that always makes things better!
And my great roomies have taken great care of me!!

1st Day of Invitation Work

First day of the invitation work for the assemblea Nov 12-14. Unfortunatly Brie and I are not going to be here for the assembly but its great to help with the work!

It was super HOT here today - the sun felt like it was 2 inches from my scalp.... But with a big group in service we covered 4 territories. It's nice because the assembly is here in Esteli so its easier for people to come, and lots were excited to here about it and seemed very positive that they will attened.

Hope all is well with everyone and your scalp isnt burning :)

Laguna de Apoyo

Wow - I don't know if I have been to a more amazing place before! While the Cox family was here a bunch of  us took a trip to Laguna de Apoyo which is basically an old volcano that fell in and left a super deep clean lake of mineral water. We rented a beautiful house that was colonial Spaniard style and held the 11 of us more than comfortably. Here are a few pictures to make everyone so jealous they will come and visit:

the whole lake is surrounded by lush hills full of wildlife including howler monkeys
View from our room - can't beat waking up to that!
main living area
outdoor patio
Kyle being spiritual and reading his magazine
the infinity pool and lake - the water was so warm. Along the shore are natural hot springs that keep the lake really warm

Well I hope that was sufficient to get some of you guys down here! ( you know who you are...)

Love to all!    Lynette

English Convention and Family

So we've been pretty busy the last few weeks. We got to go to the english convention for all of the need greaters here in Nicaragua and it was amazing!! There were about 450-500 in attendance except for Sunday when we had over 600 for the drama. It felt like a tiny international convention, there were so many people from all over the world. Most of the brothers that had parts were missionaries, or special pioneers, or members of the branch committee and they all had super cool accents! : ) It was definitely an amazing experience and I am so glad we got to go!!

Lynette with her little friends from Bluefields. She was super excited to see them since she knew them from when they had their assemblies in Bluefields.

Some of the friends we made at the beach-Griselle and Chelsea, it was so nice to have gone on our beach vacation first because we got to know some cool people and then had friends at the convention instead of not knowing anyone!!

Everyone started singing kingdom songs after the special foreigner meeting we had on Monday

My family (sister, brother-in-law, and 3 nephews) arrived on October 2nd and we've been busy ever since!! Its really nice to have some visitors, even though we've barely been here a month!

San Juan del Sur

Last weekend we headed to the beach! About 20 brothers and sisters serving in the country meet up in San Juan del Sur to hang out at the beach for the weekend. It was my first time on the Pacific coast in Nicaragua and it was well worth the trip....BEAUTIFUL!

When I was in 3rd grade I wrote a story about Tina the Sea Turtle from the Galapagos Islands and she would come ashore to lay her eggs in the sand. I have always wanted to see a sea turtle closeup so at night from 11:00 to around 1:00am we would go "turtle hunting" and it paid off!

These are the eggs - unfortunately since we were not in a protected area anyone could come and take the eggs.

The condos and pool at night

 playing games on the beach

The sunsets were amazing! I want to go back.....wanna come???
