Pioneer School

So here we are : Our pioneer school class. What an amazing time we had! For around 10 of us it was our 2nd time but none the less wonderful! We had 6 special pioneers it was so nice to learn from them - what great hard working examples they are!

Some of our friends that we made in the class: on the far left is our wonderful Ibna and her crazy brother to the far right Reyner and there "adopted mom and dad" special pioneers Elmer and Zayda

We really did have alot of fun!

Reyner misbehaving in class

Although Chrissy was not in our class she still got to join us for service...even if it was in the rain

Our instructors los Teceros to the left, los Mercados to the right and special pioneers from Laguna de Perla George and Heather in the middle.

This sister was amazing, she could not read or write but she was a reg pioneer and gave great comments just from listening to everyone. A real faithful sister!

My table : David and Rakel Espinosa, special pioneers for 4 years in el Bluff and now reassigned to another cong.

The American girls

The last day the local hall came with a yummy surprise! What great memories from those amazing 2 weeks!!

Service Days

Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well... tonight I'm posting a few photos from everyday service here on the island to show what the conditions are like and what people live in. It really makes us appreciate our conveniences and shows us what a person can live with out.
Public restroom anyone?

People are pretty relaxed on the island

Some houses are on little stilts so it won't flood in the rainy season

Its neat to see people start to read the mags right away

most everyone will listen in service

Sometimes we ride the bus...when its working...
But most of the time we walk ...EVERYWHERE!! - you get used to it

And sometimes our studies give us food like all these avacados that Chrissy's study gave us- yum!!

On thursdays the boat leaves for Bluefields so sometimes we start early to preach on the boat and dock where people are waiting

This morning at the dock Jeremy Laura and I placed 100 mags in 1.5 hours

Most houses have dirt floors and no running water - it makes you appreciate the basics

I love this one because it shows how full of color the island is...
Well my Corn Island days are coming to an end... my sisters are here visiting and then I will be heading back to Maine with them for a few months but I think Chrissy and Danielle are going to keep up with the blog. Thank so much to everyone that has kept in touch - it has been great!! - Lynette

A Corn Island Guest Blog By Emily

So I finally made it to Corn Island and I now know why those girls like it there so much! It was so amazing to meet everyone and to see the hard work they have been doing for the past ten months. Heres a little bit of my experience....here we go...

Notice the pigment diffence in Lynette and I. When i met people they would say "Que blanca, que blanca!" Si, yo se.

In my fist day in service we worked in a miskito village. They have recently recieved their "Would You Like to Know the Truth?" tracks.

Taking the bus to go in service on the North End. It's so pretty there!

These drinks had a cinnamon-milky taste....it was interesting.

Lynette and Danielito. His seriousness is so funny! Keysi and Zaid. The famous twins. Zaid and I were playing a clapping game and he was beating me so bad!~ The twins at lunch break while we were in service.

Bolis. Love them. They are like popsicles of love, only in a baggie. Amazing service pictures. They are working so hard there! Keep it up!

After all the hard work we needed a day at the day at the beach.

There is this really nice dock that the owners let them use whenever they want. The water was

so warm and blue!

Whenever somebody leaves the island they all meet at the beach and then go to Jeremy's for breakfast. Here I am eating a pancake in the form of an "E".mmmmmm...

And so we have reached the end of the guest blog. Thanks guys for such a great experience! See you soon. Chrissy, I am waiting for you in Maine :)
